| In 1947 Guthries Rexall Drug Store opened on
Perth Street in Elgin , Ontario. It was owned and operated by
Glynn and Irene Guthrie. In 1981 , the drug store was purchased
by Mary Klynkramer of Kingston , Ontario and the name was changed
to Elgin Pharmacy. In 1983 , Elgin Pharmacy expanded from 200
square feet to 1500 square feet by purchasing the adjacent convenience
store called O'Hearns. |

| In 1987 , Elgin Pharmacy relocated to the Main
Street in Elgin beside Gordaniers Grocery and opened a 2500 square
foot store using the Guardian Banner name. In 1990 , the Guardian
group chose Mary Klynkramer to be their first pharmacist to be
used in a television commercial that was seen coast to coast
across Canada. The commercial won awards and was on the air for
nearly two years. |

| In 1991 , Elgin Pharmacy purchased the property
at 14 Main Street in Elgin known as The Village Shop and in 1992
re-located to the 14 Main Street location. In 1993 the building
was expanded to 3000 square feet. In 1998, Elgin Pharmacy was
sold to Dan and Karen Hunt of Gananoque. The name was changed
to Elgin Guardian Pharmacy. In 2000, the name was changed to
Hunt's Guardian Pharmacy. To date , the store currently operates
as Hunt's Guardian Pharmacy at 14 Main Street , Elgin , Ontario
, Canada. |
